Understanding Your Personality: The Foundation of Self-Awareness

Image
We spend so much time trying to “fix” ourselves without first understanding how we’re wired. Your personality isn’t a box—it’s a mirror. The better you understand it, the more empowered you are to grow with intention, not pressure. When you know your personality—your tendencies, your triggers, your strengths—you stop trying to be someone else and start becoming more of who you truly are. What Is Personality, Really? Personality refers to the unique set of characteristics, thought patterns, and behaviors that make you *you*. It's why one person thrives in crowds while another needs solitude to recharge. It influences how you handle conflict, make decisions, and relate to others. Why Knowing Your Personality Matters Improved self-awareness: You begin to notice your natural patterns and needs. Better relationships: You understand that others aren’t “wrong”—they’re just wired differently. Informed decision-making: You align your choices with what actually energ...

🧠 Emotional Intelligence: The Superpower You Didn’t Know You Needed

Image
We’ve been taught to hustle harder, look smarter, and speak louder—but the most powerful thing you can do for your personal and professional growth? Develop your emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to understand, manage, and express your emotions—while also being aware of and empathetic toward the emotions of others. It’s not just a “soft skill”—it’s a life skill. And in a world where emotional burnout is common, EQ is your edge. Why Emotional Intelligence Matters Think about it: Ever sent a text you regretted five minutes later? Ever shut down during conflict instead of communicating clearly? Ever felt overwhelmed but didn’t know how to explain it? EQ helps with all that and more. It allows you to respond instead of react. To pause before speaking. To listen without defensiveness. To set boundaries without guilt. 5 Pillars of Emotional Intelligence Self-awareness: Recognizing your emotions in real time. Self-regulation: Ma...

🧠 Shift Your Mindset, Shift Your Life: A Midyear Reset That Starts Within

Image
Let’s pause for a moment and breathe this in: You’ve made it halfway through the year. Maybe everything didn’t go as planned. Maybe you slowed down more than you wanted to. Maybe you outgrew some things. Or maybe, just maybe—you grew in ways that can’t be measured by checklists or timelines. And that’s where the mindset shift begins. 🌿 What If Growth Isn’t Always Loud? We’ve been conditioned to think growth must be fast, visible, and goal-driven. But true, sustainable growth? It’s often slow, internal, and invisible at first. It looks like: Having a growth mindset Minding your business Letting go of outdated beliefs Showing up with grace instead of guilt 💡 A Midyear Mindset Reset As you step into the second half of 2025, here are 3 gentle mindset shifts to carry with you: “Slow is still progress.” Don’t rush the process. Honor your pace. “Softness is not weakness.” Your peace is a form of strength. “You can start again—midyear, mid...

💸 The Hidden Cost of Choosing Cheap: Why Value Always Wins

Image
Let’s talk about something we’ve all done before: choosing the cheaper option. It feels smart, right? Like you’re saving money, being efficient, staying “on budget.” So I bought another brand diswashing liquid the other day, all because it was cheaper than the brand I use. (Economy things, you know?). On getting home, I followed the same process of diluting it before use so it can last longer only to discover there was no soapy essence to it. I then used it without dilution and it was also nothing to write home about. The phrase "Cheap is not always cost-efficient" then hit me and I knew I had to share this with the community. What I learnt from this ordeal is that— cheap is not always cost-effective. In fact, it can be expensive in ways we don’t measure at first: wasted time, extra costs, recurring repairs, drained energy, or emotional frustration. When “Cheap” Becomes Expensive We buy the cheaper item... and then buy it again when it breaks. We choose low-mai...
🌿 What Does Personal Growth Mean to You in This Season of Life? “Growth is not about doing more. It’s about becoming more of who you truly are.” When I started Bushrose, I didn’t have all the answers. What I did have was a deep longing for something more meaningful—more grounded, more intentional, more aligned. I was tired of the noise. Tired of the pressure to “keep up.” Tired of the idea that growth only counted if it was visible, fast, or loud. Somewhere along the way, I realized: 🌱 Personal growth doesn’t always look like vision boards and perfectly optimized routines. Sometimes, it looks like saying “no” when you’ve always said “yes.” Sometimes, it means allowing yourself to rest without apology. Other times, it’s choosing to begin again—this time, slowly. Lately, Growth Has Looked Like This for Me: More awareness , less autopilot Less noise , more reflection Choosing alignment over just chasing achievements It’s not glamorous. It’s not alwa...
